Drawing on a range of musical styles and approaches from around the world including African drumming, samba, harmony singing, song-writing, junk percussion, musical games and improvisation, or just playing and having fun in general, these sessions focus on making it possible for everyone to join in no matter how ‘unmusical’ they may feel. Sometimes a session will focus on a particular style or approach, for example learning a harmony song or working on a three-part rhythm. At other times the emphasis may be much more on freeing people up, experimenting with sound or words and trying to get the creative juices flowing.

Benefits:
| a strong sense of group membership and belonging | |
| development of listening skills and concentration | |
| freeing up capacity for creative expression | |
| building confidence and self-esteem | |
| letting off steam | |
| Having fun and enjoying oneself | |
Taster sessions to give people a chance to find out how much fun it can be playing music together.
Outreach groups running blocks of music sessions in a chosen style or approach with an established group or agency, for example a residential project, support group or hospital setting.
Regular open groups where people can build skills and confidence over time, work on developing longer pieces and compositions and establish relationships with each other.
Performances and participative workshops to liven up conferences and meetings, launch an event or just celebrate the power of music. They give participants a chance to show what they have achieved and encourage others to join in, which in turn gives a fantastic boost to self-confidence and challenges any negative perspectives that may exist about the abilities of disadvantaged groups.
